Sylvia is a new NINJA CPA Blogger.
Hello Fellow NINJAs!
My name is Sylvia and I currently reside in beautiful San Diego.
I began my CPA journey back in the beginning of 2008 after I finished school. I am still on that journey.
I have learned a lot while trying to pass and I have also managed to compile a small fortune in study books. I think to this day I have 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2012. I told myself the last time I bought the materials it would be the last.
I still have all the books and plan on maybe burning them after Im done, or maybe Ill keep them in case one day I need to generate enough heat for my house for a whole year. Yes, I have that many books.
I was working for a small CPA firm here in SD for about 4 years and during that time I attempted the exam multiple times with no avail. I have scored across the board.
Ive gotten close (71 or 72) and not so close with my prized possession of a 19 on BEC. Im pretty sure if I went in attempting to fail I might have actually scored better.
Since I was unable to pass so far, my parents brought up the idea of taking a little time off. My leave from work started about 7 weeks ago when I started a whole new strategy.
That brings us to today. I have learned quite a bit in the past few weeks. I realized I could score higher in REG than I have before but not quite there.
I also realized having a lot of free time maybe isnt all that its cracked up to be. I take FAR on Monday and I think giving myself a lot of time to study for it may come and bite me in the behind seeing as I am starting to forget the stuff I learned a while back.
However, if I dont pass Im not giving up and I will truck along. A good friend of mine has passed 3 sections so far with the help of all the NINJA Notes and Im looking to follow in her footsteps.
Im keeping my head up and going to try and get a little more structure in my life for the next exam. I wish you all the best in your studies! Till next time
Sylvia

Sylvia, your preserverance will pay off!
I have been taking this exam for two and half years while working full time for a small firm. I know how you feel. Hang in there and dont ever give up! You got this!
Welcome Sylvia!
