Mike is a new NINJA CPA Blogger.
Hi, my name is Mike and I am from the St. Louis area. I am a 2011 graduate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
I currently work in Transactional Tax at a Fortune 500 company located in St. Louis. While I do not work the insanely long hours that are associated with public accounting, I do spend at least two hours per day commuting to and from work.
After about one year of continuously postponing and rescheduling FAR, I have decided to move on to Audit and hopefully gain some forward momentum. My prior attempts to study for FAR have left me frustrated and to the point of giving up.
I am hoping by switching things up I will get the motivation I need to come back and give FAR another shot. I am looking forward to getting this first win under my belt. I plan on taking Audit in early May.
One of the biggest struggles for me is finding the willpower to study in the evenings after a long day of work, commuting, and dealing with household and family obligations. My wife and I have two young children that keep us pretty busy.
Spring sports are about to start up, so that will eat up a few evenings a week. I am also in the National Guard, so I lose one valuable study weekend per month.
I am starting my first week of studying right now, so here is to hoping that is goes better than FAR! I plan on using NINJA Notes, Audio, and maybe Wiley to supplement my obscenely overpriced CPA review course.
Later.
