Much to my surprise and excitement, I passed FAR. Three down, one to go.
The delay in the score release from hurricane sandy added an extra layer of uncertainty, although my anxious wait for my test results pale in comparison to those who are still dealing with Sandys aftermath several weeks later.
I told my friends and family that there was no way I was going to pass. I was already finagling my schedule for a retake. When I saw that 76 on my iPod touch, I literally showed it to my co-worker and asked for confirmation.
Does that really say 76?!
And so the crusade to pass REG has been in full force ever since. The material is detailed and tricky. I never thought I would say this in a million years, but I would rather be studying for FAR. It is more intuitive and relevant.
It has been too long since I last blogged, but you may remember that my first section, BEC, expires on 02/28. So as stressed as I am about REG, my fiancé continuously reminds me that all is well and that I have one more chance if this turns out poorly. He has been great at supporting me and I have needed it.
The stakes are at an all-time high. I recently accepted an audit position for a Big 4 accounting firm. I start just after the first of the year, but left my position in corporate accounting 2 weeks ago.
I have been studying full time, yet feel the least prepared than I have for any previous exams. REG is the material I am least comfortable with.
Of my 150+ undergrad and grad credits, I had 3 credits in tax and 6 credits in business law. I sat for this exam blindly when my NTS was expiring last January and scored a 34. Needless to say, my base of knowledge before I started my preparation was lower than any other exam.
And yet, I feel that I must pass. I have been given the opportunity to study full time. I passed the other three exams in the midst of working overtime and with a lot less brain power available.
But my other half is right. I have one more chance. I am still on the crusade for 75+, but at the end of the day, it is okay if this turns out to be a practice test. Taking the test during busy season would be brutal. But the world will not stop spinning.
