Time is ticking down. I have a few days until I take my first exam ever, FAR, and Im a little nervous and anxious.
Im anticipating the relief of getting it over with, but Im not looking forward to the wait for scores. Why does it take so long to get scores out?
I also landed a job interview this week. The timing is not that great, but Ill take it. Ive been applying and interviewing for the past two years without any luck.
Living in a rural area means very few accounting jobs come up. This job just happens to be a great opportunity.
I need the experience, and it would qualify for licensure (after passing the exams). An income would also be awesome. I have to admit though that I had a mini melt down after realizing it would also mean a huge cut on exam study time.
Im not sure how I would handle a new job and try to study for exams. Then again, Im getting ahead of myself since I dont have an offer in hand.
I also took a minute to realize that there are plenty of people out there that have worked jobs, raised families, had other distractions, and still passed the exams. I know it would probably be very difficult, but it may end up being reality.
In the meantime, I am trying to focus on FAR. The nature of the CPA exam is that of a marathon and not a sprint (for most). Quite a bit of life can happen over the course of one, two, or more years while enduring the whole CPA process. Im going to do my best to navigate whatever gets thrown at me.
