Katie is a new NINJA CPA Blogger.
Hey NINJAs!
My name is Katie and I’m from Illinois (sitting for exam) and Texas. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2009.
Before graduation I learned that I was at 140 credit hours only 10 hours away from the 150 credit hours I would need to be eligible to sit for the CPA. I picked up the hours by taking a heavier course load and attending summer school and received a minor.
After graduation I had to start looking for a job. I was not one of the lucky few that got a job offer from the Big 4. I ended up with a position as a state tax auditor.
A year after getting my job I decided it was time to buckle down and work on passing the CPA exam. I thought that 2011 would be the year I passed the exam. Needless to say, it wasn’t.
In 2011 I sat for AUD and REG. I was totally not ready for either. In 2012 I moved to Texas for a new position with an oil and gas company as a corporate accountant doing consolidations and internal reporting.
I sat for AUD and again did not pass; I was closer but still not close enough. I put off studying for it since I had new job responsibilities.
Here it is 2013. I took the AUD exam in the Q2 testing window hoping that I would be able to finish it before they put on the Clarity Standards. That came back with a Fail.
I was scheduled to take AUD for the fourth time in August but just did not feel like I was ready for it. So November 25th will be the fifth time taking this test.
This time to prepare for this exam I am trying to nail the NINJA method. I am determined to pass!
