Hi fellow CPA candidates!
It was a cold and windy weekend in the San Francisco Bay Area, so my girlfriend and I decided to take a trip to Pacifica, CA for some crabbing.
I decided to take a light break from studying for the CPA exam even though I brought some notes with me to the pier for reading in between checking the crab net.
Crabbing off municipal piers without fishing license is legal in CA. We also had to throw back any crabs less than 5.75 inches and female dungeness crabs.
We did get plenty of juvenile rock and dungeness crabs, so back in the ocean they went. The locals recommend squid or mackerel. Chicken and salmon attracts sea lions that may steal the bait.
At the end of the day, we did bring home one rock crab. The claws are hard to break, but the meat has a sweet flavor. Next time, I will experiment with different bait and see if the catch improves.
Keep studying!
