Exam day is quickly approaching and I am preparing myself to completely dominate FAR this time around. Studying for this exam has drained me both physically and mentally. I am ready to put it behind me and move on.
In preparation for the retake, my review consisted of working every single multiple choice problem that my review material has to offer. The first time I took the exam, I was only able to cover around half of the problems.
When I went back over the multiple choice questions, I saved a pdf copy of the questions that gave me the most trouble along with questions that provided detailed explanations of the topics being covered.
I now have an organized collection of problems that I plan to use in my final review stage. I also prepared my own set of notes for each section and have been continuously adding to it. In addition, I have been jotting down important formulas and acronyms on sticky notes and posting them around my desk at the office.
I have found it to be extremely beneficial to combine the NINJA Audio and Flashcards to my arsenal of review materials. After studying a section and working some of the problems, I move from my desk, slide into a comfy chair and pop in my ear buds and listen to the audio for the associated section.
I feel that the majority of topics covered in this exam are actually quite easy to understand and I am able to make sense of them. However, it is the extensive amount of topics covered that is making it tough to remember everything and I am finding that there are topics that I need to go back over.
These topics include stockholders equity, leases, bonds, note calculations, governmental & non for profit accounting. I plan to hit these topics hard in the limited time I have left to study.
With that being said, its back to the books for me! I look forward to sharing my experience of this retake with you all after the exam come this Friday. Stay focused, maintain a positive attitude, and most importantly, never give up on these exams. We can and will do this!
