How Hard is the CPA Exam
The CPA Exam is still one of the world's toughest exams. The historical CPA Exam pass rate hovers around 50% per section. Some sections (BEC in the past, ISC now) are greater than 60%, while other sections, namely AUD and FAR sit in the high 40s to low 50s range. The low pass rates, combined with the rigors of studying for (and taking) a 14-hour exam, make the CPA Exam a very difficult and stressful exam. Compared to the pass rates for the BAR Exam (law school) and the USMLE (medical boards), the CPA Exam is objectively a tougher exam.
