Introducing NINJA CPA Blogger Kimberly!
My name is Kimberly and I work full-time as a government auditor. I have known that I wanted to be a CPA since my first high school accounting class. I’ve always been a numbers person, which gave me the confidence early on that I wanted to pursue a career in accounting.
I’m also a single mom of a teenage son with autism. Three years ago, he and I left the comfort and familiarity of our hometown. We moved several hours away from family, friends, and any kind of support system so that he could get an education in a school system that could accommodate his needs.
My responsibilities take a great deal of time and energy; it gets tiring at times.
While managing these often overwhelming circumstances, I have been trying to pass the CPA exam with little success. Since 2010, I have attempted various sections of this exam over and over and over.
I have studied using a few different review courses that bored me to tears. Still, I managed to pass 2 sections (BEC and AUD), but eventually lost them due to the lapse of the 18-month window.
Fortunately, I was able to pass BEC again in February 2016 and am preparing to sit for AUD in January 2017. With a lot of help from NINJA and more determination than ever, I am ready overcome this exam once and for all.
I am not a quitter. Most in my situation would have given up a long time ago. But, something in me just refuses to accept failure.
I will finish what I started and become a CPA!
